Veronica Risken-Oakes

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker Associate

Veronica earned a Master’s in Social Work degree from Eastern Washington University. She has been practicing Social Work in our community for 20 years and has a strong understanding of systems that impact individuals and families. Veronica is part of the faculty with Eastern Washington University’s Social Work program. Veronica believes that every person’s experience is valid and that we all hold the capacity within us for growth and change.

Veronica uses a person-centered approach, utilizing a blend of evidence-based therapies to match each person’s needs and developmental stages, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. Veronica has experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma, as well as working people with ADHD, those on the Autism Spectrum, and members of our 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Veronica has experience and understanding in navigating school systems for students who are struggling with mental health and school attendance.

Veronica’s goal is to offer a safe and nonjudgmental space for her clients to engage in therapy and work toward their goals. The decision to pursue counseling can feel overwhelming, and Veronica is committed to holding space for each person she works with, meeting people where they are and walking together toward their goals.

Veronica enjoys spending time with her family and friends, thriving on meaningful connection. She loves live music, reading, running, and being in the sun.
