Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
Sadonia Garner recently earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Human Services from Chestnut Hill College. Her work often uses techniques from Psychodynamic Therapy, Systems Theory, and Multicultural/Feminist Theory all through a trauma-informed lens.
Sadonia loves to work with individuals of all kinds of backgrounds but has most experience working with young adults and college students. She has worked with individuals on such issues as depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, women’s issues, relationship issues, self-harm, stress, and life changes. While she loves working with a variety of concerns, Sadonia most enjoys working on exploring depression and trauma with her clients.
She believes a trusting, authentic bond with a therapist is essential for therapeutic growth. Her main goal in session is to operate from a place of gentle curiosity, authentic presentation, and honest reflection. She believes that both an individual’s life story and their many cultural identities play a large role in how they orient themselves in the world. She approaches counseling from a genuine, curious perspective which allows her clients to safely explore their unique life experiences and mental health concerns.
While Sadonia has spent the last few years in Philadelphia, PA, she recently moved back to her hometown of Spokane. When she is not in the office, you will likely find her happily spending her time at a coffee shop, on a golf course, or enjoying the PNW scenery via mini-road trips. She is a proud cat mama and brand-new plant owner (with her new plants in her office!).
