Rachel Allison

Counseling Intern

Rachel is a graduate student at Grand Canyon University and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Through the combination of her life experience and continued education Rachel seeks to provide support and empowerment to her clients. She is passionate about helping her clients develop a positive sense of self-worth within a safe and accepting therapeutic environment.

She specializes in intra and interpersonal communication, anxiety, depression, the mental effects of auto immune disorders, grief, and trauma. Rachel utilizes therapeutic techniques based in the theories of Cognitive behavioral therapy, Dialectical behavioral therapy and Client centered therapy.

Rachel believes that facilitating an environment that is based on unconditional positive regard, filled with empathy, and met with goals that are in congruence with the client’s needs will provide the client with all of the tools they need in order to restructure unproductive thought processes by replacing them with healthier practices for a more fulfilling lifestyle.

In her personal time Rachel enjoys being outdoors paddle boarding, hiking, and enjoying the beautiful joys as well as health benefits of nature. She is most at peace when traveling as it allows her to be humbled through the immersion of the customs of other cultures. Emotional and mental wellbeing are top priorities for Rachel, but she also holds a high regard for nutritional health and wellness and its effects on the body and mind as a whole.
