Cassandra Nolan
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate
Cassie received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Idaho and completed her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Whitworth University. Cassie works through a systemic lens and believes that attachment plays a significant role in individuals’ relationships with others, but also themselves. She integrates attachment work with techniques from various theoretical models, including but not limited to Emotionally Focused Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Bowenian Therapy, Structural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and the Gottman Method. Cassie is a member of the AAMFT.
Cassie takes an empathetic, warm, and collaborative approach. She believes that each individual, couple, and family is the expert of their own life and relationships, and they are capable of growth and meeting their therapeutic goals. She plays a supportive, coach-like role throughout the therapeutic process to offer different perspectives, tools, understanding, honest reflection, and positive regard. Cassie’s goal is to offer a safe, non-judgmental space for her clients to truly reflect on, identify, and confront patterns in their lives that are not serving them. She values developing a strong foundation with her clients to create a trusting therapeutic alliance. She acknowledges the uniqueness of each client and meets them where they are at. Cassie sees the immense amount of strength that comes with vulnerability, and she strives to create an environment where her clients are able to experience that.
Cassie works with couples using her training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, along with interventions from Gottman Couples Therapy. In addition to working with couples, she enjoys working with both individuals and families of various age groups, backgrounds, and identities. She works with people who attend therapy for a variety of reasons including depression, anxiety, relational difficulties, trauma, PTSD, family concerns, stress, and life changes. Cassie has completed trainings in Emotionally Focused Therapy Externship, Level 1 and Level 2 of Gottman Couples Therapy, and Level 1 of LifeSpan Integration Therapy.
When Cassie is not in the office, you can often find her curled up reading a good book. She also enjoys being active outdoors, doing things such as hiking, lounging in the backyard, and playing with her pup. Cassie values family time and spends much of her free time with her loved ones.
